July 2 & 3

Golf & classic race challenge 2022

New year, new ideas!

25 years ago, I organised my first regularity rally with Robert Rorife in Tunisia. Two years ago, I hit a golf ball for the first time during a Handi-Golf course.

For our 25th anniversary, I had the idea of bringing these two passions together: driving and co-driving a classic car from golf course to golf course with a precise, fun road book and some regularity tests to spice it up.

I am convinced that the design of beautiful bodywork, noble mechanics and golf greens go well together, especially under the early summer sun!

The formula is not new, but we want to propose it to our regular group of loyal Classic rally participants, for whom this could be the opportunity to meet up with friends in a different, entertaining, and fun context.

This combined tournament will take place over a weekend, following the winding roads of our Belgian Ardennes, linking three prestigious golf clubs together: Five Nations of Méan, Five Nations of Durbuy and Naxhelet Golf Club. Quality accommodation, delicious food, and a friendly atmosphere: that is the convivial and exclusive cocktail that we can propose to a maximum of 30 teams.

Each team will consist either of two golfers, or of one golfer and one non-golfer. Two categories, each with a specific ranking based on the results of both the regularity tests on the road (6 easy level RT’s) and the rounds of golf. On each course, 6 holes will be played, leading to a total of 18 holes across all courses.

On Sunday afternoon, the end of the tournament would be marked by a festive and convivial prize ceremony in a sunny and relaxed atmosphere.

This would be the ideal opportunity to introduce a golf friend to the world of historic rallying or, vice versa, for a golf player to invite a classic rally fan.

Classic cars accepted :

  • from 1925 to 1982 (Regularity)
  • until 1995 (Touring)

Other good deeds:
the profits from this tournament will be used to help the non-profit organisation Stroke & Go, which fights for better care for stroke victims, and the non-profit organisation Parthages, which helps people with disabilities. This rally will also benefit from the Co2 Free label, with a purchase of concrete actions to compensate for the Co2 emissions generated by the course.

In this case, the focus would be only on navigation and the respecting of even the smallest details of the Road Book (not too complicated, either – remote checks using Tripy).
